Both leading pairs in the Basic Novice category are coached by Maria Borovikova who is really satisfied with her young couples: „They did a great job. They are first in both groups, it couldn`t be better. They really like to come here, because it’s a great competition. We expect to go home with two gold medals tomorrow.“ Her husband Denis Samokhin, who is the coach of European bronze medallist Nikita Katsalapov/Elena Ilinykh added „We are proud of the young pairs. For me it was planned to be here with my senior pair. But they competed in the Cup of Russia and a competition in Romania, so we decided not to compete in Dortmund. The time between all the competitions is way to short, they need a bit time to relax.“

Flora Muehlmeyer /Tim OBERLAENDER GER

In the category Basic Junior Alisa RAIKOVSKAIA  and Daniil ZVORYKIN (19,35 pt.) from Russia are currently ranked first. They are followed by two German pairs; Flora MÜHLMEYER / Tim OBERLÄNDER (14,52 pt.) came in second and Tabea ABENDROTH / Danny WUTTKE (13,06 pt.) are currently ranked third.

The Ukrainian head coach Galina Churilova underlines the huge variety of categories in Dortmund: “ NRW Trophy is a very good competition for young skaters. There are not many competition for Non ISU categories, so it`s a big opportunity for the kids to get some international experience. They really like the competition and come here every year.“
